When I saw this, I thought perhaps I used the wrong tag when I initially
checked out 21.5. So, I removed the source directory and checked out the source
again using

cvs co -r r21-5-13 -d xemacs-21.5 xemacs

Then I ran configure/make/make install and everything built and installed fine,
so it appears that the build problem was related to the tag I used to check out
the source initially.

However, I still have the runtime problem when trying to set the mark. I
started xemacs, loaded a file, set debug-on-error to true, pressed C-@ to set
the mark, and got the following backtrace:
