Working in IT as a network engineer, I feel the need to point out (not because what is written is wrong at all) that the first line of defence is yourself. AV is a net for when we have lapses of judgment. A healthy dose of cynicism and suspicion goes a long way to preventing this sort of thing. After a while you develop a 6th sense that says "this is dodgy. Don't do it". I wish I could pass that sense on somehow, it is very useful. I think it can (unfortunately) summed up as "be suspicious of flashy apparently free altruism". Personally I like NOD32. Sits there, does its job, doesn't whinge. I like it.
