Perhaps it would change something, perhaps not... Anyway, I'm sure VASL is important for the VASSAL project leaders. However, they probably decided that they prefered to offer an improved engine for the other modules without waiting for an update from VASL module maintainer. The vasl-devel mailing archive http://www.vassalengine.org/pipermail/vasl-devel/ suggests that the communication between the main VASSAL team and Tom Repetti on the VASL side isn't 100% efficient. I'm going to try and learn more about the exact development status of the VASL module. I'll post my findings to the list in the coming days.
