Hello to all
my ASL Comrades. We are well into playtesting on Issue #36 which
will be the
last Paper Issue and will be ready for the Nor'Easter Tournament in
late March.
As of Issue #37, all future issues will be e-mailed to my subscribers
as pdf.
files. I'll have a New Pricing structure for all future and back issues
after
#36 is
mailed out.
Speaking of
paper Issues, they are going fast and the only Back Issues
remaining in
print at this point are: #27, 29, 30, 31, 32, 33 & 34. I'm putting them
on
sale to get
them moved out, sale price of any individual issue (now $3.50 each)
or get a
bundle of all 7 above for $25.00. Add a 4 Issue subscription for an extra
$10.00.
Any
International subscribers the price for one Issue is $4.00, the 7 issue bundle
is
$35, add
$10.00 for a 4 issue subscription. So get them why you can, they will no
longer
be available
sometime between last paper Issue #36 & first pdf. issue #37.

We have the
usual 4 scenarios we are working on for #36 and are now looking for
Playtest
volunteers to try them out. Anyone who does and submits a AAR/playtest
report will
receive a free paper copy and a free pdf. file copy of #36 when published.
Here are the
actions we are working on:

Assyrian
Ambush: The 2nd in the Battle for Iraq series by Ted Wilcox sees elements
of the Iraqi
Independent Mechanized Brigade running the gauntlet through Bd 57
as British
trained and equipped Iraqi levies try to stop them from exiting. All armor
vs all
infantry in 1941 for a quick playing tourney action.

The Police
Station: Joe Gochinski has another in the Hong Kong battles with action
starting
immediately with on board melees at start as the Japanese 38th Division
tries
to capture
the Police Station, with it's overwatch position from the Winnipeg
Grenadiers.
Reinforced
company side elements on both sides and a strong Canadian defensive position
with
fortifications makes for a taught battle until the end. 6.5 turns makes it just
small
enough to
fit into a tourney time slot or 5 to 6 hour time frame. Exciting action for
sure.

Hunting Gray
Wolves: The latest in the NKVD series from our own Tom Morin sees a sweep
by a company
of NKVD 6-2-8s supported by mixed armor and air support trying to dig out
Graywolve
Partisans in the Ukraine. Board 34 is where the action is and comes down to
much close
range fighting and CC. Lots of FUN for both sides as CVPs and Hut Control
are the
VCs.

Defending
the Twin Villages: The Battle of the Bulge setting of the approaches to
Rocherath-Krinkelt on boards 5 & 32 sees Kampfgruppe Muller
of the 12th SS Hitler
Jugend
crashing into the valiant GIs of the 2nd Infantry Division. 18 (6-5-8) SS
squads
supported by
5 x JgdPz IV/70 Tank Destroyers attack a company of mixed American
squads with
a bunch of SWs, a 81* Mtr a 2 x M4A3/76W Sherman 76L tanks. A fairly
large action
taking 8.5 turns with the SS trying to break through. Much maneuver and
lots of
firepower here.

As for
recently published #35, It contains the usual 4 action-packed scenarios:

The
Gin Drinkers Line - Hong Kong 1941 - Nice tourney style offering from
our
own
Joe Gochinski with a reinforced company of Elite and 1st line
Japanese
infantry
tries to wrest the Bd 62 village from the 7th Rajput (Indian)
Regiment.
Plays
fast and bloody, very tense fight over those Huts.

The
Gateway - Hatten, France, January 1945 - Steve Johns brings us the
tourney
style
gem as Panzer Grenadiers and Pioneers, supported by Stugs and a
Flame-Hetzer,
smash
into the 42nd Rainbow Division during Operation Nordwind. With two 57L
ATGs
the
out-manned GIs will do their best to defend Board 1a. Tourney style with nice
toys.

A
Willingness to Die - Robert Hammond is back with the next in the 6th Panzer
Division
series.
It is day two of Operation Barbarossa and elements of the Russian 48th
Rifle
Division
stand in the path of the German advance at Paislinus, Lithuania. A very
cool
Sniper
SSR that Robert & Tom Morin collaborated on make this a hornets nest
for
the
advancing lancers as they try to control woods/buildings on board 38 along
with
exiting
20 VPs. A nice, innovative design with wrinkles that only Robert seems to
come
up
with. Medium sized action takes around 6 hours to complete.

Les
Homme de Neige - New Dispatches designer Bruce Childs has come up with
a
Big, Brutal melee in the mountain tops near Storvtn, Norway in May 1940. On
Bds
2,
9 & 15 with a couple companies worth of French 1st liners and Elite Ski
troops trying to
clear
the hilltops of dug in German mountain troops. Snowshoes also make a
rare
appearance
in Deep Snow conditions in Alpine style hills. Very cool looking
larger
action
for those not afraid to spending 7+ hours on a scenario.

We
also have a winner in the Article Contest (Congrats Kedge!) who does a
nice
job
looking at Gun Duels. Carl
Nogueira has more
Tactical Tips and I'll have all the
usual
scoop on the regional ASL scene.
As
has been noted in the past, I will be going to strictly pdf. file
format
after
Issue #36 ships next March. I am no longer re-printing Back Issues
and
have limited numbers of Issues #27, 29, 30, 31, 32, 33 & 34
left,
once they are gone they are gone.

I
will have ALL Back Issues available
as pdf. files, they will be available
as
soon as the first pdf. file Issue #37 is published, keep an eye here
for
details
as they become available.

Speaking of old Dispatches, MMP published 'Out of the Bunker' featuring
scenarios
that originally were published in Issues #01 - #20. See the link
below:

http://www.multimanpublishing.com/ta...9/Default.aspx

For
those unfamiliar with Dispatches, it is a 12 page Amateur
ASL Newsletter
that comes to the greater ASL Community twice
a year, sometime in March and
September courtesy of the New
England ASL Community, including the Bunker
Crew and
our yasl Brothers in Southern New England. It typically
contains
4 New Scenarios, Analysis of each one, a Main Article on
any
aspect of the game system, Tactical Tips, ASL News and
Tournament
Updates from our region.
