Dispatches Update & Playtesters Needed

Hello to all my ASL 
Comrades. We are well into the playtest 
for 
Dispatches from the Bunker #39. We'll 
have the usual 4 scenarios  
and articles.  
  
We are looking for playtest volunteers for the last 2 
scenarios 
mentioned below: Killer Kloskowski and Teeth of the 
Wolf. 
Both have been played and tweaked at the club and need 
some 
outside eyeballs to give them a try. Anyone that plays 
either 
and submits a report by Labor day weekend will get a 
free 
copy of Issue #39 or have an issue added 
onto their subscription.

Here are the 4 scenarios we are working on:

Mopping Up Kobayashi: The latest 
in the long dormant 
Philippines
Series B (Late War) finds 
elements of the 38 Infantry 
Division
catching up with remnants of the 
Kobayashi Group in May 
1945.
A large infantry company of mixed 
Elite and First Line GIs with a 
9-2
in command tries to control the 
road on board 7A along with 
controlling
a hamlet of huts. The Japanese 
are down but not out and look to 
prevent the USA win via a 20 CVP 
Casualty Cap for the 
American. 
  
Taking Eibertingen: Nice tourney 
sized offering from Jeffery 
Myers 
sees Company G, US 23rd Infantry 
Regiment attacking the 
remnants 
of Falschirmjaeger Division 3 at 
the village of Eibertingen on 
the 
road back to St Vith. The GIs are 
suffering from Ammo Shortages  
but have 2 x Sherman M4A3(75)W 
tanks that are not in 
support. 
The German force is 2/3 the size 
but on defense in 
buildings 
and have a HIP Stug IIIG in 
support. On Board 12 with ground snow  
and 2 Orchard overlays spicing 
things up. Building control 
wins. 
  
Killer Kloskowski: Literally a 'Killer' scenario from Ralph 
McDonald 
with the above German Panzer Commander audaciously 
taking 
the bridge at Pawlograd in the opening of the 3rd Battle of 
Kharkov. 
His Panzer IIIL is quickly reinforced by a Pzkw VIE as the 
Russian  
pour reinforcements into the town. The German gets half a 
company 
of SS reinforcements mounted in SPW 251/1 halftracks as the 
melee 
moves into the town proper. Tourney sized and action packed 
on 
Boards 3a & 6b. Building and Bridge Control 
wins. 
  
Teeth of the Wolf: After the Iraqi resistance collapsed on 
the 
Habbaniya Escarpment they re-established a defense at 
the 
village of Sin e--Dhibban. The British May 
1941counterattack  
is supported by 4 x Royals Royce 
Amoured Cars and a 1939  
Fighter Bomber. 3-4-7/3-3-6 
Iraqis vs 4-5-7/4-4-7 Brits on  
Boards 3b, 35 & 40. Medium 
sized and another 
winner 
in Ted Wilcox's Iraqi 
series.

Below are the 4 
Scenarios we had in 
#38:

Flanking Hatten: The latest quick play, 
tournament style offering 
from Steve Johns see a German 
Kampfgruppe of 6 x PzIVJ tanks 
along with a platoon of infantry in 
halftracks attacking a small 
American combined arms for on boards 62 
& 63 in this 1945 
encounter. The German looks to cause 
CVPs and 
exit.

And So it Begins: 
Another great looking Japanese-Chinese
scenarios from Robert Hammond sees 
hostilities boiling over in 
1928 in the city of Tsinan as the Chinese are 
trying to evacuate 
civilians on Board u. More than a company of infantry 
apiece 
make for instant action in this exciting city fight. Pregame rubble 
and flame rolls add to the carnage. 

Fontenay by Day: 
Here we finally have a chance to publish 
scenario 1 of 2 set in June '44 at 
Fontenay-le-Pisnel in Normandy. 
Chuck Hammond (no relation to Robert) has a 
reinforced company 
of British Elite Rifle Squads, supported by a Churchill 
and 2 Sherman 
Tanks, attacking a company of SS on Boards 10, 19 & 44. 
The German
gets a Panther to raise Havoc for a couple turns before Air 
Support arrives.
OBA on both sides rounds out a brutal fight for Board 10 
buildings. 

The Streets of 
Rostov: Mr Stalingrad himself, Tom Morin, has a new, 
large city fight, this 
one set in Rostov in 1942. Boards 1, 8, and 22 have 
Railroad overlays giving 
a new feel to those venerable boards as the SS
try to punch through a mix of 
NKVD, line and conscript troops to dominate 
the railway hexes. With 37 
squads and 5 guns on the Soviet side and 17 
squads and 14 AFVs for the SS 
and Panzer troops, there is a lot of firepower 
for both sides and plenty of 
options on offense and defense. 

We'll also have an 
article by Kedge on Ammo and Fuel Shortages and Carl 
will have more of his 
tactical 
tips.
