so in other words, even if the math box isn't working i should get a test
screen?

my problem is the address decoder isn't changing. there are 4 address lines
with suspect waveforms.
but the 6502 is good and the buffers i am convinced are good. the input pins
on the decoder chips don't seem to be shorted to ground or vcc. i don't see
anything shorting the address lines. i am getting continuity thru the
traces. i don't see what is causing the problem.
