A few years back somebody did it on an industrial scale:

Maybe everybody here has already seen that, but just in case you
haven't.  I saw them at CA Extreme a few years back, and it was really
impressive.  The refresh rates weren't quite up to full speed, but it
was still a lot of fun to play a 20+ foot high tempest.

Sadly it looks like the web page may have been abandoned.
