Valid comparison?

I have seen (and heard about) cases where a TD ordered pairs to switch directions, usually because someone had started to play a board (erronously), and now directions were adjusted in order to have a chance at a valid result. So far, so (well, maybe mot good, but as good as was possible....). Now assume that - with screens - the pairs do not get up and change directions, but just swivel the tray around and get on with it. Problem is: no longer are N and E on the same side of the screen. This need not be a problem, of course, but (assumption) if the people were to rotate 90 degrees clockwise (or counter-clockwise, for that matter) certain "screenpartnerships" would arise, while (without a physical switch) others arise. OTOH, if they get up and change seats around, why shouldn`t this duos arise anyway? And why should one care? Well, maybe player X explains very well, while Y (language problem, laziness, whatever) doesn`t do so well. This may make a difference. Then again, it may not. Rub of the green? Probably, but maybe you have opinions, or your NBO may even have regulations (unlikely, but who knows...?). My NBO does not have a reg, I have no idea whether any such reg would be needed, I just look for ideas....
