In the 1975 Lawbook declarer could become dummy after an opening lead out of turn, but only if the Director was not summoned. Declarer's rights were appropriately enhanced in the 1987 Lawbook and subsequent editions. Now in the 2017 Lawbook all four players may mutually agree to play on after a disputed claim, but only if the Director was not summoned.
