Job listings might not ask for C# proficiency now, but that doesn't mean they won't in the future! C# wasn't a viable language to use on the Xbox 360 and PS3 until Mono achieved ahead of time compiling. It is inevitable we will see an increased adoption rate of CIL based languages in games. I wouldn't be surprised to see games using something like VMKit to translate MSIL or Java bytecode (or maybe even LUA bytecode someday) -> LLVM IR -> ahead of time compiled machine code in the future. At that point the only thing that will matter is: which language will give you the best productivity gain given your problem domain?
