I wonder how the politics of that will shake out in practice. I can definitely see other team members / leadership being afraid of the new stuff that they don't understand, the potential production impact, etc. I mean, if people can hand wave about how Lua is too much of a bother, then they can hand wave about anything. I think in situations like that, what works is if management has slacked off, and isn't paying enough attention to apply Stop Energy to the problem. http://www.userland.com/whatIsStopEnergy Then programmers will do what they want. If they actually manage to solve real problems with their newfangled language, then people will go oooh and aaah. It gives them the authority / leverage to do more. As an example, I had a friend of mine who was working a (non-game) job at Microsoft. His manager sorta disappeared / got reshuffled, and so he started writing everything he could in Python. Nobody noticed for 9 months.
