I was actually interested by what you wrote about F# (like probably
quite many people, considering the number or participants to this
thread), but you should consider hiring somebody to write your mails for
you, somebody with a modicum of social skills.
After the third message you posted I already felt like "who's do he
think he is?" and google for your name, and oh irony, the first message
was from a mailing list where a guy was feeling sorry for somebody
having the same name as you, for the day when people would google your
name...
Long story short: You are welcome *discussing* F#, why it is cool, how
to use it in projects, possibly give some actual examples of where F#
would shine, but all that with a moderate and open tone. If you don't
have time to read a linked page or message, that's perfectly fine but
don't answer on it in a way that let people imagine you've been reading
and dismissed it altogether.
On your first message you seemed to focus on the performance side of C#
vs Lua (for example), and then later on the "convertability" to C++ or
other native language, which would tend to indicate me you did not read
the previous thread on scripting languages. Performance is definitely
not a real concern for many people, and I would definitely not consider
performance the most significant parameter when choosing a scripting
language. Expressiveness, ease of use, developer productivity, east of
debugging, sure, that's typical the kind of things that matters to me.
So, typically, what would be the competitive edge of F# compared to more
traditional scripting languages? Do you have some examples to provide?

Mickaël Pointier
