Peter, Uh, innocent until proven guilty isn't the issue, and I think you know that. When a state official has been indicted, they cannot stay in office by state law. ESPECIALLY when the two crimes mentioned are sexual assault and election fraud. Both removals are temporary pending either the charges being dropped, or the person being acquitted. I know Governor Lawton Chiles performed the same function prior to Jeb Bush. I cannot help but wonder, would you have posted that same comment had the governor's name not been "Bush"? Hmmm. Perhaps you think "innocent until proven guilty" also means that a teacher accused of raping a student ought to continue to teach? A cop accused of stealing or murder be allowed to be "walk a beat"? The answer is, of course, No. In cases where someone in position of authority is accused of committing a crime, I think public safety demands that you remove them from authority positions until the matter is cleared up. -- Bill Highfield St Cloud, Florida, USA!
