I didn't know about the scuffles, but I am not surprised. Several budget airlines have sprung up in the last year or two, and the airports - Delhi especially - are overcrowded now. The ground staff is at best unhelpful - often rude - and a few passengers (who are also getting rougher as the fares drop) may have expressed their feelings without bothering with the diplomacy phase.

Delhi's winter fogs are getting worse every year with the rapid growth in cars (though the ratio of petrochemicals to water vapour in the atmosphere is still not high enough to be classified as a smog). This is the price we are paying for the 8% GDP growth.

Even the town I live in - Pune - is starting to look alarmingly like the Bombay of the early eighties.

  Talking of which, she just surfed past a channel called NDTV, and I have to ask Deepak this. How often do you 
  guys get fog? There was an article saying that there were "scuffles" going on at New Delhi airport as a result 
  of fog delays. The air-marshalls would be kept busy if there were scuffles anytime fog was seen near Heathrow.
