> I watch the news constantly, and to date I haven't seen any mass > outpouring of muslims looking to condemn the radicals. I never doubted that you watch the news. That's not really the same thing as looking for things outside your usual sphere of interest, is it? It doesn't really serve the bible-thumping fear-mongers to show that Islam has many faces, any more than it serves the liberal media to show that there are many faces of Conservatism. But it doesn't take much effort to talk to people and listen and realise that there's three sides to every argument (the two you hear and the truth). > Where were the > friends of these terrorists that were caught? You're telling me that > 20+ terrorists operated in a total vacuum with no help or no one > suspecting? Baloney. Others knew, and they sat back and did nothing or > actively participated. As I said, I don't even know the 20+ are guilty yet. We've had more than one screw up of intelligence so far. But the evidence will answer that eventually. And if they are guilty, I'm sure it will also lead us to anyone who actively participated. As for sitting back and doing nothing, I don't really think people should be punished for that; though they should be rewarded for not doing so. > So your answer is, to what, sit back and just wait for the next attack? > Unacceptable. Don't put words in my mouth. If these guys are found guilty then it's a huge victory. What I do say is that I have a very low tolerance for collateral damage, because I fear it breeds radicalism (and a quick look at the recent shift in popularity of Hizbollah in Jordan should back me up a little). Jean Charles de Menezes, Abdul Kahar, god knows how many in Iraq, Afghanistan, Palestine, Jordan, etc, etc, etc. Innocent people being dragged out of cars in the middle of London, innocent muslims being arrested for months for filming at Disney World, the stories go on for ever. Exactly how many successes have we had before this one, which hasn't yet proved to be a success? How many lives taken and lives ruined are worth one life saved to you? > Again, I get this impression that you don't think islam is out to > destroy our entire culture. You just think they want peaceful > co-existance. Heaven forbid! :) > I disagree. They've shown that they want nothing less than total > cultural domination. Their own scriptures DEMAND it. And they're > willing to kill every one of us to get that domination. Sadly this is a self-fulfilling prophecy. The more people believe that and act like it's an absolute truth, the more true it will become. I hope you'll be happy when we've turned all Muslims against us and we can go and take them on properly, instead of this pussyfooting around, international laws and due process and stupid inconveniences like that.
