What did I advocate that was "gung-ho"? I didn't say to kill innocents, 
massacre people, or deny basic human rights. 

Mark: From what I made out you said we need to take the war to their turf - which means invasion and invasion means innocent people get killed.  We can see the Hazbulah getting innocent people killed by hiding behind Israel's firging line.

I merely said that we need 
to take the war to the terrorists instead of playing defense against a 
foe that is looking to kill every one of us. I said arrest the 
terrorists when possible, kill them if we must.

Mark: And how do you kill them?  do you mean Capital execution, or go bomb Mecca?

Bill: And somehow you figure that's GUNG HO? 

Mark: believe me I am with you in terms of feeling frustrated, feeling certain their must be a solution even if we can't figure it yet.  I am truly as wary and frustrated as you are.  If I were in power I would be sorely tempted to send every open Muslim to Mecca with a one-way ticket.  But I'm no politician. I hate Islam, but I don't hate Muslims by the same token. Somehow we have to somehow distinguish that many Muslims are only muslims out of fear - conversion is made terribly difficult for them and I should think many Muslims don;t want some kind of taliban any more than we want it.  We are dealing however with brothers and sisters in the human race, and it's no good telling them we hate their way of life and expect them to love ours when we act oppressively.  

The worst thing, or a terrible mistake, we made in Iraq was tell them to get a life and live the way we would have them live rather than let them decide what they want, whether democracy or dictator.  You feel bad when the Amerian Way is criticised, epsecially by foreigners and so it is for most people within their own cultures.  Basically no one can really tell a peoples how they should run their lives.  Yes, again, the situation is impossible.
