I envisioned players accessing a remote webmail provider that I 
control. All correspondence would take place using the email 
addresses I provided via that provider, such as 
[email protected].  I would be able to forward all 
correspondence to another private email address that I would use to 
screen the correspondence ensuring nothing of an identifying nature 
was exchanged between players.  And like a Gunboat game, the initial 
player list would be hidden until the EOG.
