Hi folks, just a quick update on facebook diplomacy (http://www.facebook.com/apps/application.php?id=8604176918&ref=s).
It now has 187 active dailly users, of which maybe a dozen appear to be veterans and the rest total newbies. You'd think that the preponderance of newbies would be a paradise for the sharks of cat23, but these newbies are so green that they argue that basic rules need to be changed, they hardly talk at all, and many disappear and leave their country in CD. The ones that do play either misorder repeatedly or come up with moves that make no sense. It is a little heavy going.
There are a fair few glitches (you can't see exactly what all the orders are; convoys are disrupted without be dislodged; units can be dislodged by their compatriots; some of the coasts don't work properly) and the designer, Chris Hughes (if that means anything to anybody), is working to remove these.
I suggest that people give it a while for things to be sorted out. In a few months, it should be very good, and it would be nice to think that cat23 could establish a reasonble presence there. I shall start pointing facebook people towards the cat23 website once it's up and running, as there is a desperate need for guidance amongst the newbies.
regards
Stephen
