Babak, you are indeed the first, however, please could I ask anyone else
who is interested in playing to reply to my mgdip AT yahoo DOT com
address only. This will ensure that the voyage of discovery is as
complete as possible for everyone.

If no 'virgin' map is offered to me (by a non-player), I may select one
from a 'lesser known' Variant, change the province names and play the
game with the Seismic rules.

To my knowledge only 3 games of this variant were ever played - with me
having GMed in one, and having played in a second (where I got
demolished to my embarrassment ;P)

It is a pretty tough and time consuming game to GM (maybe two GMs should
be used - I don't know) because each player has to receive individuated
maps every season and the GM has to keep track of what each civ sees,
all trades, etc. but absolutely worth the time and effort because the GM
gets to see everything and watch as the various 'nations' blindly look
for new SCs to conquer and have theirs taken by surprise attacks from
the dark.

The game is of course inspired by (arguably) the best PC game ever
devised - Sid Meier's Civilization (I through IV).

If ever a brave soul was to decide to GM this variant (Martin - can it
be true?)- I want to be the first to sign up :)

In fact, if anyone has hitherto unseen Diplomacy Map (not too complex)
that they would like to see the light of day, send me a copy of it at

(according to popularity) on that map:-



a.      CivDip (- Effectively this is 1899 combined with Fog of War).
b.      CivDip with Seismic V2 orders (- Complete rules will be
written-up for this).
