Free French liberate Paris... German civil administration given safe passage to German military lines
In a bold an unexpected move, French forces move swiftly along the Seine Left bank and take Paris at dawn. Meeting only token resistance from German police at the Porte de Clignancourt.

The people of Paris prevented German troops from progressing out of their barracks, and eliminated the possibility of a direct, frontal attack with advancing Free French. Very quickly, the Germans became aware of their weakness, and took refuge at the end on the rue de Rivoli near the Palais Royal, and in the 16th arrondissement of Paris. The rest of the troops were isolated here and there in various locations.

From our correspondant, with Captain Dronne, commanding the forward group:
"Dronne and his men are submerged, hugged by delirious crowds. sont submergés, happés, étreints par un foule en liesse, qu’il ont bien du mal à écarter. The french officer decides to join City Hall for him symbol of national sovereignty. Guided by local resistance, Dronne and his men dive through the capital by the Austerlitz bridge and through the docks of the Seine. It is 1220 when the "hotel de Ville" is finally reached.
Vehicles are disposed in fan formation around the edifice, ready to repeal any counter attacks. The news of the arrival of the Free French Army spreads through Paris in an instant. Church bells toll, Notre Dame de Paris starting the dance. The joy is indesctibable. "
All civil administration buildings and barracks are secured by evening. German administrators are escorted by French diplomats to german military lines unscathed, a token gesture for services rendered.
