It was an interesting game, and I made a couple of terrible blunders that cost heavily.

The most interesting scenario for me was in the beginning, w/ everyone making their choices, I had a huge opportunity w/ Red right in front of me, to place 4 units on the board together w/ little interruption. W/ his interest in England we could have split England & part of France and taken a very aggressive position right from the start. Unfortunately, Red declined the offer and I had to make do in the South.

We created a 3-way between Green, Cyan & Blue to take on White. Rather quickly, Green starting straying in some of his moves and Cyan got nervous and started making other moves as well. The situation was challenging.

As things fell apart more and more, White and I talked a bit but we were not ready to trust each other. During the time we started to talk more seriously, I made some errors in my orders, and one huge one misreading a set of agreed moves between White, Cyan & Blue as to the purpose of what was being done. Not understanding what they had in mind I did something else I thought would be more effective, instead, I helped created havoc and broke the last chance I had of working w/ White. Although, I attempted to repair the damage done, I was now labeled a target. And I can't say I blame anyone for doing that.

One of the things that did surprise me about this game at times was the lack of diplomacy. I heard little from many of the neighbors around me to the North and West. There was more room for collaboration but it never happened.

Far from one of my better games, and I did get to meet some people who I will have fun playing w/ in the future.

Joel
