First off, thanks to Rob for stickingit out with all of us. Well, what a long strange trip it's been! I came in as a Germany with, I think, 3 units. I did some fast talking and managed to stay alive, how and why I'm not exactly sure. Austria was actually a key part of it though. He wanted to be part of a history making game. He and I teamed up to take France down from 14 to zero and code named the plan 1420 (14 "to" 0). Well all was going as planned and the then France was slowly coming apart at the seams. Then he up and left. That's where Libby came in. Now, taking down the old France was pretty simple because he was making some pretty cool blunders and Austria and I exploited them. But Libby, LIbby was another kettle of fish altogether and I knew 1420 was going to be a bit tougher. Somehow through it all Austria managed to just stop making sense. Heck, I offered him my centers to ensure his solo since I knew Libby being in the game would make it all tougher. Well, he didn't want to take Rusty out, which I understand completely, and he didn't want to take me out so Libby and I figured we would take him out or stalemate things to the point that Turkey would gobble at Austria from behind. Which he finally did. Well since Austria wanted to be part of history and since LIbby and I being in a game together was historic in and of itself, she and I opted to take HIM out since he was obviously not interested in the solo. Libby and I figured we would make it even more memorable by playing it to a 17/17 tie and shocking anyone and everyone that knew our history together. Well, it all went as planned. We were very close to 17/17 and I think Libby and I both sensed the other might have had 18 on the brain. I was set to come after her after she had taken centers that were not agreed to, I guess you could call it a stab, but either way I was no longer sure she was going to stop at 17 although I was sure I would. Well, sort of. 18 looks real big sometimes. But, as luck would have it, I am getting hammered in a couple of other games for reasons a LOT better than the reasons we were hammering Rusty. I guess it was a twinge of conscience but I wasn't sure I could stop at 17, I wasn't sure Libby would and I began to wonder about the "fairness" of what we were doing to Rusty. So, since Libby was talking about a 2 way if Rusty would vote for it and since I either vote for a solo or a DIAS I opted to propose the DIAS and put a graceful end to a watershed game. Libby and I are in another game and I even jumped into a game she is running. Who'da thunk it? Thanks to ALL of you for making this a great game and one I will remember for at least another couple of weeks or so. --- Rob or Denise Wesley <[email protected]> wrote: > Guys, > It's unanimous -- the three way F/G/T DIAS succeeds. > So at the end of 1924 the Continent is now at > peace.
