Small technical issue re USDP signon

Hi everybody. I'm a new PBEM player who noticed a small technical issue when I tried to 
sign up for the game London on USDP. Although the problem was solved for me 
personally by the game's helpful and knowledgeable master, I thought I would mention it 
here in case anybody else encounters the same problem. 

The problem concerns the following command:

JOIN powerChoice@london yourPassword
SIGNOFF

It doesn't work, unless I drop "signoff."  

By contrast, when I signed up the other way (JOIN london yourPassword, followed by 
SIGNOFF on a new line), there was no problem.

I wound up exchanging emails about this with Manus Hand, and he wondered if it might 
have something to do with Rich Text, which is how all my emails to the judge were sent. 

I see that the USDP game Madrid has a similar signon option, but I don't know whether it 
has the same problem with choosing a power. For some reason Madrid and London are 
also permanently listed as waiting for new players for zero hours. I am not sure if that is 
intentional or also a glitch.
