Judgekeeper change

The judgekeeper address for the DPjudge has changed. If you now send press to JUDGEKEEPER, either by mail or through the GM webpage, it will be sent to my mailbox. A matter of convenience, as I'm currently the more active site developer. Don't worry, Manus is still there if you need a more familiar face.

You are encouraged to send any bug reports and feature requests to me (or to the forum). Furthermore keep an eye out for GMs gone AWOL. If you notice your GM to not respond to any queries for over a week, contact me (or another judgekeeper) and I will investigate. If needed I will find you another GM (quite possibly me).

I've been working on the site for about a year now, with Manus as a mentor. The fruits of that labor are slowly starting to show. There's now a genuine test judge, called DPforge, with its own 4 letter code (DPFG), its own home page (http://www.floc.net/dpforge/) and its own email address ([email protected]). That judge runs the latest code, pulled straight from the Googlecode project (http://code.google.com/p/dpjudge/), and as such may not be as stable as the production code used by the DPjudge. 

Speaking of new features, the CurrentPlans wiki page on the Googlecode project home page (http://code.google.com/p/dpjudge/wiki/CurrentPlans), gives a fairly comprehensive overview of implemented and planned enhancements. Some of these (mostly bug fixes) have been ported to the production judge, others will in due time.

Note that it's perfectly possible to create and play games on DPforge, if you fancy trying out a new feature and don't mind the occasional service lapse. I'd appreciate it if you contact me first, because I may inadvertently disrupt your game if I don't know you're playing. Also know that openings for the test judge are not automatically posted to the Openings List, so do your own recruiting. The common approach however is still that the judgekeeper creates a test game and invites people in participating, with the understanding that this should not be considered a regular game.

Ps. Some may think that I'm simply one of Manus' alter ego's. There are indeed some similarities between our names (Manus Hand, Mario Huys), but I can assure you that his Japanese is far worse than mine. In fact, grabbing on the opportunity, I propose to make the 5-4 name pattern officially a condition for every judgekeeper (after all "Diplomacy" is 9 letters). What one could call "name branding". I'm therefore going to suggest to the other judgekeepers to tweak theirs: Chris Babcock to drop the 'Bab', and Sam Tyler to become Tyler Sams. I don't foresee much if any objection B-)
