It depends on what kind of data you're looking for. Let's say you're interested in opening move statistics. There are two parts to your quest: Collect the games and analyze them. For the first part, a search form like the one on Floc (http://www.floc.net/observer.py?page=search_form) may come in handy. Or you could try to enlist the help of the judge keeper to collect games that meet your criteria. For the second part, if the sample is small or the query complex, you could manually go through the game maps or the game history for each game. For greater collections you may be better off writing a script that parses the game histories. If you lack the skills, this would be a good opportunity to teach yourself. Or simply ask around.
