I've been interested in trying mastering, so if you're willing to put up with a novice master, I'll start a game. I'm also a fan of standard games with pretty basic rules, so that's what I would do, initially at least.

I don't know where to start with this request, so I'll just spit it
  out and see what happens.

I'd like to play more Diplomacy. I'm spoiled by Manus' awesome USDP
interface, so I prefer to play here rather and USOS or USTX or some
other site where I have to get out my paper maps. I love filling
vacancies and picking up other people's messes.

But, I'm a sucker for "normal" variants. I've just started with
1900, and that seems ok, but I prefer Standard games or Loeb9 and
Crowded variants. The strategy required for Youngstown or some of
the other weird things (Payola, Xtal) is too much of a departure of
the standard Diplomacy board game I occasionally play with friends.

I said I'd "like" to play more, because there are just no games to
play on USDP. As of this afternoon, there are 4 openings:

Clausewitz: I get an email on this list almost every day telling me
that players are needed for this Youngstown game

Warisquietlyexpensivehell: Payola, albeit one with a great name

washdc_05: Imperial, what appears to be an even more complicated
  Youngstown variant

  washdc_21: Imperial, similar to washdc_05

I know we've just had the big discussion about variants over on the
other list, and I don't want to re-start that flame war, but...

I guess what I'm asking is: "Will someone please create some regular
games for normal people to play?"

I've never GM'd, and I wouldn't be able to play in games I created
anyway (as far as I understand)...

BTW: I think we'd have more games if USDP was matched up with the
  diplom.org Game Queues (http://www.diplom.org/DP-cgi/setqueue) so
that I could just go get in line to join a game.

  Thanks
  T
