This is a quick message to announce the release of the next major FlightGear world scenery build (v0.9.10) I have named it v0.9.10 because that is the next number in the sequence, but it should work with any version of FlightGear v0.9.8 and newer. This version includes: - The latest airport and taxiway updates from Robin Peel (based on the most recent DAFIF cycle) - SRTM2 based terrain. This is v2 of the SRTM world terrain data set, cleaned up and improved. - The latest objects from Jon Stockill's world object database. This includes most of the major obstacles from the FAA obstacle database, buildings, radio towers, smoke stacks, etc. It also includes a growing number of custom objects from around the world, including 2700+ objects recently added for France. - The 2d data (oceans vs. land, roads, rivers, lakes, cities, forests, farmland, etc.) is now based on the new database setup at http://www.custom-scenery.org/ This is essentially vmap0 right now, but provisions are being put in place so users can correct and improve and add to the data as well as import more detailed and accurate data sets. - All the airports are regenerated with a new surface fitting algorithm. And the airport generator includes many bug fixes that remove a variety of glitches and anomolies. - Also included are a myriad of little bug fixes and glitch-be-gones. You can download the new scenery from http://www.flightgear.org/ The total download size is about 13Gb so I am also making the new scenery set available for purchase at http://cdrom.flightgear.org/ I should be able to start kicking out v0.9.10 scenery sets in a day or two.
