Could we have a special category for well developed aircraft? To be admitted to this category a list of criteria should met. These should include performance measurements, systems modelling, cockpit details, load and balance, and aircraft handling. This last will be the most difficult as there is little or no real world data available for checking against. (Handling will however be simple for the Airbus family as they have command steering and, apart from the A300, no manual reversion) These criteria should not necessarily leave out YASim aircraft, as there is no reason why these aircraft cannot be made to meet the requirements - all that is needed is lots of flight testing and tweaking to tune the model to be like the real aircraft. There are plenty of bad JSBsim aircraft in our library. Most seem to have a basic Aeromatic model, others have a very simple , single flight case, set of derivatives taken from Roskham or other text book, and Datcom is quite capable of giving bad results.
