The medium-term became the short-term: sometime later today, TerraSync should be back up and more reliable, since the upstream storage *and* the CDN are now running on the same infrastructure. (And a bunch of scalability concerns vanished, as well) So we are ‘off’ HelioHost, but I do need to recreate download.flightgear.org <http://download.flightgear.org/> and update.flightgear.org <http://update.flightgear.org/> on Hetzner aka de3mirror. In the actual medium term, I’m going to look at using the same infra for FGaddon downloads: this should improve the end-user experience for aircraft installs/updates, but that will need to be trialed first, to check the costs are ok. If you were previously syncing a mirror *from* us1mirror, please get in touch with me directly, since depending on what you’re mirroring, it may not make sense any more. (Anything on the CDN peers globally, from pretty well located data-centers, so custom mirrors only make sense for special use cases, but, that’s fine, if you have such a use case….). Which also brings us to one of the special cases: We probably need tp replace the upstream for TerraMaster etc, since using the CDN for a ‘pull the whole world’ is inefficient and expensive. So converting one of the existing mirrors that has uncapped bandwidth into the official server for that, which we document in the wiki etc, is probably wise. Hearing what the typical use case is from people who work that way would help, since of course I am clueless about it. (FYI the WS2 data set is 91GB and the OSM2City set is 137GB) Kind regards, James _______________________________________________ Flightgear-devel mailing list [email protected] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/flightgear-devel
