Is a property change enough to trigger an action? YAGNI applies. to the "sequence of actions" idea. You've indicated that an action can have state. What do you have in mind for storing that state? Properties, special structures owned by specific action objects? EG: Fuel Indicator with 2**n discrete values needed for driving a physical display based on a stepper or servo, vs floating point with 1,728,000 discrete values, changing by a couple of .05ml droplets of fuel at twice the frame rate. (C172P @ 9 gallons/hr) - Calculate the filtered value on change (pre-action) state value from property - (condition as part of action) If the previous action value was different, fire the action, if the same, don't (conditional action) previous value stored as state (how) or (condition part of code triggere= d by action) - Could an action be defined as "send this value to a queue of updates for physical cockpit devices?" - Could an action trigger a network or USB output? (post-action) -Pat On Fri, Jul 10, 2026 at 8:23=E2=80=AFAM James Turner <[email protected]>= wrote: > > > On 5 Jul 2026, at 20:07, Patrick Callahan <[email protected]> wrote= : > > FlightGear Epic: Actions - > https://gitlab.com/groups/flightgear/-/work_items/18 > > I'm wondering if there should also be a definition of a sequence of > actions, in which several different defined actions are performed in a > specified order at a specific cadence. > > Can anyone provide a use case for such a feature that fits within the > general direction of this epic? > > I have not considered sequencing actions, but I did define the option tha= t > when extending an action, the addtional bindings can be pre-, post- or > replace.
