FDM coordinates

Hi,

I am creating an aircraft configuration file, using JSBSim's 
configuration file and I have a question regarding the coordinates.
In the file it is written that all lengths are in inches, with origin at 
the tip of the nose and y positive on the right wing.

All my distances are in inches except wing area, wing span and wing 
root, which are expressed in feet and feet squared it seems... is this 
normal?
