That's why I keep updating often.
pulseaudio should work normaly without intervention.
All 7 boxes, x86_64 and ARM all use pulseaudio without problems.
The only change I ever made is to enable a plugin to 
/etc/pulse/default.pa that's needed for a hamradio SDR program and that 
never changes.
