In this case its referring to the SGI rgb file format.

You might want to mention SRTM-United_States-1 as an alternative to DEM-30
at the fgfs-tools-client stage as well.  I'm not sure that you meant to say
"SMTP-30" in the preparing the elevation data section either!  

Section 2:

Section 3.1.2:
"The next step is similar to demchop but is used from chopping up .hgt.zip

(or something along those lines, the original doesn't make sense).

In section 3.1.2 again, terrfit -> terrafit.
  
I'm not sure, but I think that Terrafit could be usefully run on the DEM-30
data as well, since I believe that the previous irregular grid cludge has
now been removed from the code?  

It's good to see someone updating the docs BTW :-), try mailing it direct
to David Megginson who wrote the original (after fixing the typos!).
