I think I'm running v3.3.3 here ... it could be the v3.4.2 is doing 
something a bit more strict than 3.3.3.

Just as a quick test could you open up 
../TerraGear/source/src/Lib/vpf/database.h and go to line #146 and 
change the word "private" to "public".  Does that allow the compile to 
proceed?
