However, this data is first run through a data reduction and approximation algorithm. This algorithm produces a smaller model that still follows the original data within some specified error tolerance. There is a minimum and maximum number of nodes so that there will always be at least 50 nodes inserted into the resulting model, even if the error tolerance is reached, and there will never be more than 1000 nodes even if the error tolerence isn't reached.
