What is your system? genapts is only fairly recently robust to line-ending differences in apt.dat - make sure you have the latest CVS checked out, or check your line endings. Have you changed LFPO manually before running that command - try it on vanilla apt.dat. Does your work dir exist? Any output from genapts before "segmentation error"? Can you get a back-trace?
