Hm.  The Encyclopedia of Arda half-agrees with you.  It implies that the
use of Dûnedain specifically for the Men of Arnor was a Third Age thing.

I have to tell you that I think giving Arwen more screen time was one of
Peter Jackson's good calls.  Substituting her for Gildor Inglorion at the
Fords of Bruinen was both clever and effective, IMO.

I think I'd feel the same way even if I didn't think Liv Tyler is one
of the sexiest women living.

Eh?  Being obsessive about Tolkien trivia is in the finest old hacker 
tradition -- and I say that wearing my anthropologist hat, not just 
because I fit the description myself. :-)
