Yahoo Groups going away (That means Spielfrieks)

Yahoo has announced that as of October 28, Yahoo Groups will stop
accepting new content and on December 14 will delete all content. That
means that this group will go away at that point.

Granted, not much activity occurs here these days, other than the
Meeple's Choice Awards each year. That will need to find another home of
some kind. Reddit is likely a good choice.

Moderating/owning this group for the last 10+ years has been a pleasure.
I would like to thank everyone that has contributed over the years in
any way, especially Larry Levy for running the awards for so many years
as well as the great retrospective awards. Also, a big thanks to all of
the people who have acted as moderators or owners of this list over the
years, including, but not limited to, Erik Arneson (the list owner
before me), Mik Svellov, and Ward Batty (who helped approve new members
and posts when the group was more than one person could reasonably manage).

Discussions these days have primarily migrated to various forums,
especially BGG. I suspect that the real usefulness of this list is long
past, though it was great when active discussions happened here. Before
boardgamegeek.com, spielfrieks was one of the best ways to have a good
game discussion.

To assist with the continuation of the Meeples Choice awards, I have
created a subreddit, r/spielfrieks to host discussions. It is currently
private and inaccessible. Larry, if you want that opened up, please let
me know. I grabbed it just to keep the name in case you want to continue
the awards via something named spielfrieks.

If anyone has any suggestions, thoughts, etc, please let me know. I will
be happy to open the subreddit up to everyone and post info here for
those of you who aren't familiar with Reddit. Reddit has quite a few
very active board game groups already. My thoughts are that this one
would mostly be for award discussion, but it could be used for general
discussion as well.
