ce bunker, this time it really isn=E2=80=99t much of an exaggeration!=C2=A0=
 First of all, let me say that I hope thateveryone reading this is healthy,=
 gainfully employed, and not too severelyaffected by this terrible virus in=
 our midst.=C2=A0Obviously, our recreational activities have been impacted =
by the eventsof recent months, but I=E2=80=99m hoping that most of us have =
had the chance to sampleour favorites from last year, whether in face to fa=
ce gaming or by using thewonders of technology.=C2=A0 One of the thingsI=E2=
=80=99d like to hear from you all is if you=E2=80=99ve had the chance to pl=
ay enough of2019=E2=80=99s new games to be confident of your feelings about=
 them.=C2=A0 June is when we always conduct our voting, butit=E2=80=99s a s=
elf-imposed schedule, so if enough of you think we=E2=80=99d be better offw=
aiting a few months, just speak up and we can delay the process.=C2=A0Justw=
hat is this process of which I speak?=C2=A0The Meeples Choice is Spielfriek=
=E2=80=99s very own Game of the Year award.=C2=A0 It goes all the way back =
to 2001, when StephenGlenn woke up one morning and decided it would be fun =
to poll his buddies onthe user group about their favorites from the previou=
s year and a few of themput the whole thing together.=C2=A0 We=E2=80=99ve b=
eendoing it ever since, albeit with a few changes.=C2=A0One thing that sepa=
rates the MCA from all the other awards is that wepick our three favorite g=
ames from the previous calendar year.=C2=A0 This has let us make some less =
mainstream, but alwaysquality selections over the years.=C2=A0 Hereare the =
results from the last few years, to give you an idea of what I mean:=C2=A02=

=E2=80=99d like to participate, we can accommodate themfrom afar.=C2=A0 Jus=
t have them send an emailto spielfrieks-owner AT yahoogroups DOT com and th=
ey will be made a votingmember without a single drop of hand sanitizer bein=
g spilled.=C2=A0In orderto come up with our three winning games, we employ =
a three-stage process.=C2=A0 First, we=E2=80=99ll decide which games will b=
e partof our initial election.=C2=A0 The goal is tomake sure every member c=
an vote for all their favorites, so this list usuallywinds up with 200 game=
s or so, as people suggest games to be included.=C2=A0 Then, we=E2=80=99ll =
conduct that first election, withevery voter choosing their 10 favorite gam=
es.=C2=A0This will give us our list of nominated games, which will consist =
of the25 games (plus ties) that received the most votes.=C2=A0 Finally, we=
=E2=80=99ll vote one more time, witheveryone picking their three favorites =
from the nominated games.=C2=A0 The three games that get the most votes fro=
mthat second election will be declared the winners of the Meeples Choice Aw=
ards!=C2=A0So with thisnote, the first stage has officially begun.=C2=A0The=
 object is to come up with a list of games to choose our nomineesfrom.=C2=
=A0 Which games are eligible?=C2=A0 Just about anything that was first rele=
asedduring 2019.=C2=A0 RPGs and video games falloutside of our scope, but b=
oard games, card games, dexterity games, co-ops,wargames, party games...pre=
tty much any game that debuted last year and whichis listed on BoardGame Ge=
ek can be voted for.=C2=A0Pure expansions aren=E2=80=99t eligible, but stan=
dalone expansions are.=C2=A0 The games have to be published ones, so Print=
=E2=80=98n=E2=80=99 Play or web-published games are excluded.=C2=A0Toaccoun=
t for the fact that, these days, games can debut at any time and,seemingly,=
 anywhere, we=E2=80=99ve recently expanded our eligibility rules.=C2=A0 If =
a game first appeared earlier than 2019 ina form that limited its exposure =
(for example, a print and play game, a limitedprint run, or a non-English l=
anguage release), but a more accessible versionwas published last year, it =
can be voted for.=C2=A0The only restriction is that any game that made the =
25 game nomination list in a previousyear can=E2=80=99t be considered this =
year.=C2=A0 Youonly get one bite at the MCA apple!=C2=A0(Hmm, remember appl=
es???)=C2=A0 Thisisn=E2=80=99t something that I=E2=80=99m very good at catc=
hing, so if you know of any games thatyou=E2=80=99d like to vote for that m=

 our exclusively designed app, createdby the very generous and skilled Wei-=

ions (granted, that=E2=80=99sa pretty low bar, but the app really is very w=

=E2=80=99ve settled on the games for our first election, but it=E2=80=99s v=
ery intuitive, so eventhe newbies should have no problems with it.=C2=A0We =

that are <i>fun</i>.&nbsp; Things like, oh, I don=E2=80=99t
know, maybe voting for the 2019 Meeples Choice Awards!<br clear=3D"none">

Greetings, fellow Spielfrieks!&nbsp; This is
Larry Levy and when I declare, as I often have in the past, that I=E2=80=99=
m speaking
from the Meeples Choice bunker, this time it really isn=E2=80=99t much of a=
n exaggeration!&nbsp; First of all, let me say that I hope that
everyone reading this is healthy, gainfully employed, and not too severely
affected by this terrible virus in our midst.&nbsp;
Obviously, our recreational activities have been impacted by the events
of recent months, but I=E2=80=99m hoping that most of us have had the chanc=
e to sample
our favorites from last year, whether in face to face gaming or by using th=
e
wonders of technology.&nbsp; One of the things
I=E2=80=99d like to hear from you all is if you=E2=80=99ve had the chance t=
o play enough of
2019=E2=80=99s new games to be confident of your feelings about them.&nbsp;=
 June is when we always conduct our voting, but
it=E2=80=99s a self-imposed schedule, so if enough of you think we=E2=80=99=
d be better off
waiting a few months, just speak up and we can delay the process.</span></d=

The Meeples Choice is Spielfriek=E2=80=99s very own Game of the Year award.=
&nbsp; It goes all the way back to 2001, when Stephen
Glenn woke up one morning and decided it would be fun to poll his buddies o=

the user group about their favorites from the previous year and a few of th=

put the whole thing together.&nbsp; We=E2=80=99ve been
doing it ever since, albeit with a few changes.&nbsp;
One thing that separates the MCA from all the other awards is that we
pick our <i>three </i>favorite games from the previous calendar year.&nbsp;=
 This has let us make some less mainstream, but always
quality selections over the years.&nbsp; Here

to come up with our three winning games, we employ a three-stage process.&n=
bsp; First, we=E2=80=99ll decide which games will be part
of our initial election.&nbsp; The goal is to
make sure every member can vote for all their favorites, so this list usual=
ly
winds up with 200 games or so, as people suggest games to be included.&nbsp=
; Then, we=E2=80=99ll conduct that first election, with
every voter choosing their 10 favorite games.&nbsp;
This will give us our list of nominated games, which will consist of the
25 games (plus ties) that received the most votes.&nbsp; Finally, we=E2=80=
=99ll vote one more time, with
everyone picking their three favorites from the nominated games.&nbsp; The =
three games that get the most votes from
that second election will be declared the winners of the Meeples Choice Awa=
rds!</span></div>

wargames, party games...pretty much any game that debuted last year and whi=

is listed on BoardGame Geek can be voted for.&nbsp;
Pure expansions aren=E2=80=99t eligible, but standalone expansions are.&nbs=
p; The games have to be published ones, so Print
=E2=80=98n=E2=80=99 Play or web-published games are excluded.</span></div>

print run, or a non-English language release), but a more accessible versio=
n
was published last year, it can be voted for.&nbsp;
The only restriction is that any game that made the 25 game nomination list=
 in a previous
year can=E2=80=99t be considered this year.&nbsp; You
only get one bite at the MCA apple!&nbsp;
(Hmm, remember <i>apples</i>???)&nbsp; This
isn=E2=80=99t something that I=E2=80=99m very good at catching, so if you k=
now of any games that
you=E2=80=99d like to vote for that meet this description, please post abou=
t them here,
so that we can get them on the ballot.</span></div>

the voting process a lot more enjoyable than previous versions (granted, th=

a pretty low bar, but the app really is very well designed).&nbsp; I=E2=80=
=99ll discuss how to use the application once
we=E2=80=99ve settled on the games for our first election, but it=E2=80=99s=
 very intuitive, so even
the newbies should have no problems with it.</span></div>

released during the past 12 months.&nbsp; &nbsp;I=E2=80=99m sure there are =
some titles that I=E2=80=99ve missed,
so I need your help.&nbsp; The games are
listed at the end of this note.&nbsp; Please
go through them and post any additional titles from 2019 that have a good
chance of making your top 10 for the year.&nbsp;
You should also include any designs that debuted before last year, but
which you think haven=E2=80=99t been truly accessible until 2019.&nbsp; Lis=
t your reasons for why you feel that game
should be included this year and I=E2=80=99ll make the judgement call on ea=
ch of
them.&nbsp; But I=E2=80=99ll try to be accommodating,
since the goal is to let everyone vote for their top 10 games of the year
