Okay, everyone, it=E2=80=99s time to get this puppy started! First off is =
the
preliminary round of voting. The goal is to come up with a list of
nominated games. Thanks to everyone for their suggestions; we now have 215
games to choose from. During the first round, everyone will be able to
select up to 10 games to vote for and the top 25 vote-getters, plus ties,
will receive nominations and will advance to the final round of voting.
I took the suggestions and combined the two versions of Unmatched into one
entry. That entry is called =E2=80=9CUnmatched (system)=E2=80=9D. I did s=
omething similar
with =E2=80=9CFunkoverse Strategy Game (system)=E2=80=9D, with the idea bei=
ng that any
version of these should be folded into this single entry. This seems like
the most appropriate way of handling instances like this and avoids a
misleading splitting of the vote.
Speaking of voting, you will do so by using our nifty little voting
application. No changes from previous years, but I=E2=80=99m sure no one w=
ill mind
a refresher. First, go to the following website: http://meepleschoice.win=
..
You=E2=80=99ll see five menu headers at the top right of the screen. If yo=
u
created an account in a previous year, click on =E2=80=9CSign In=E2=80=9D. =
You=E2=80=99ll be
prompted for your Login (that is, your Username) and your Password. Put
both of those in and you=E2=80=99ll be ready to cast votes. If you don=E2=
=80=99t remember
your password, click on the Forgot Password? prompt and we=E2=80=99ll get y=
our
password back out to you. If you don=E2=80=99t have an account, click on "=
Sign Up"
and you'll be asked to create a Username, provide your Email address, and
create a Password. You can also log in using either your Google or
Facebook accounts. Once you've filled out the fields, click on the Sign Up
button and you'll be entered into the database.
Once you=E2=80=99re logged in, you can vote by going to the Home screen. T=
here are
two big buttons there, labelled =E2=80=9CVote=E2=80=9D and =E2=80=9CSee Res=
ults=E2=80=9D. Clicking on the
=E2=80=9CSee Results=E2=80=9D button won=E2=80=99t show you anything, becau=
se I=E2=80=99ve hidden all the
earlier results to reduce the clutter during the vote. (Don=E2=80=99t worr=
y, I=E2=80=99ll
put them back after we=E2=80=99re finished.) So the button you want to cli=
ck on is
the Vote one. Doing so will show you a screen with all 215 games listed in
their full ludopathic glory. To the left of each game is a green button
that says =E2=80=9CAdd vote (10)=E2=80=9D. To vote for a game, click on th=
e button. The
button will turn red and say =E2=80=9CRemove vote=E2=80=9D. That shows tha=
t you voted for
it. Also note that all the other green buttons now have a (9) in
parentheses, to show that you only have nine votes left. If you want to
change your vote, just click on a red button; it will change back to green
and it, and all the other green buttons, will have their parenthetical
values increased by 1. Once you=E2=80=99ve voted for 10 games, the text on=
the
other games will change to =E2=80=9Cvote limited=E2=80=9D and those buttons=
will be
disabled, keeping you from voting for an eleventh game. The only way you
can add a new game is by removing your vote for one of the games you=E2=80=
=99d
selected.
That's it. There's no button to register your final vote, because the
system records your votes automatically as you vote for games. The app
remembers your votes after you leave the screen and/or logout. When you
return to the application, you'll see all the choices you've previously
made. Because there's no formal way to finalize your vote, make sure
you're happy with the selections on the screen before the voting deadline
comes and I shut down the voting.
There=E2=80=99s one other thing to consider. At the top of the voting page=
,
there=E2=80=99s a statement about the voting preference you set last year. =
It
states whether or not you want to let other users see how you voted. If
you=E2=80=99re happy with the preference listed, just ignore it. If you wa=
nt to
change your preference, or you haven=E2=80=99t set it earlier (maybe this i=
s your
first year voting), click on the =E2=80=9CChange this=E2=80=9D button. Doi=
ng so will cause
your preference to toggle between letting your votes be public and letting
them be private. Once all the voting is over, we=E2=80=99ll be able to cli=
ck on a
game and see the usernames of the people who voted for it, but only among
those who don=E2=80=99t mind letting their votes be public. That will let =
folks
check out how their fellow spielfrieks voted, while still honoring the
privacy of those who would rather their votes remain secret.
I=E2=80=99ll give everyone a week for the first round of voting, so sometim=
e next
Friday, I=E2=80=99ll shut down the voting. Then I=E2=80=99ll announce what=
the nominated
games are and we=E2=80=99ll continue with the final round of voting.
