Installing TORCS without root privileges

Hello,

I am trying to install TORCS on a Linux machine, but I have no root access.
I used the --prefix option of configure to install it in my home directory,
but there is a problem with the dependencies (more specifically plib). Plib
was installed in my home directory using the same method, but TORCS doesn't
see it. Is there a way I can change the search path to include plib? Should
I create a symbolic link to the plib folder and where should I place it? Any
assistance is highly appreciated.
