Now all works perfectly! Really thank you very much. I suggest to publish on torcs website this last patch, which will help many ubuntu users. I also had troubles with opengl because i'm running TORCS into a VirtualBox Ubuntu 11.10 guest machine, and the host is a Win7 64bit nVidia powered: Compatibility mode, properties unknown. OpenGL Warning: XGetVisualInfo returned 0 visuals for 0x83232a8 OpenGL Warning: Retry with 0x8002 returned 0 visuals ./torcs: line 53: 5914 Segmentation fault $LIBDIR/torcs-bin -l $LOCAL_CONF -L $LIBDIR -D $DATADIR $* The solution i found to this problem is really simple: 1) remove torcs settings: $ rm -fR $HOME/.torcs 2) start torcs without direct rendering as $ LIBGL_ALWAYS_INDIRECT=1 ./torcs 3) go to display options and set VIDEO MODE INITIALIZATION = best 4) quit game and restart torcs now with direct rendering (i.e. as usual) This problem happens also installing TORCS from ubuntu repository.
