Removing in-race messages

How do you get rid of the unwanted in-race messages in the middle of the
screen, or can you? They tend to mess with the FPS and sometimes cause
weird interference with the game sounds, or then the idling engine of a
pitting car is trying to replace the usual engine sound of my car. Sound
works fine otherwise, in the game and systemwise. Besides, I could care
less about some random robot driver pitting or finishing wherever they
do. Isn't that what the race results or the small scoreboard in the
bottom left corner are for? I hope this outsider's observation doesn't
blow any gaskets out there.
