Perhaps I need to add something to the previous description. I'm not
absolutely sure if the messages of pitting cars or their finishing
positions and the sound issue are related. Sometimes they coincide,
which then interferes with the engine sound of my car. There's nothing
else running on my computer that would use/need the sound system at the
same time, and I'm offline when racing as well. I don't know if this can
be reproduced by others, What I can state with certainty is the sound
issue frequently (not automatically, though) occurs when some robot
driver pits for repairs. I don't have to be driving anywhere near the
pits for the sound to be affected. Then once the pitting car returns to
the track, my engine sound returns to normal.

I hope there is some solution, or at least I'd like to know whether
those messages have anything to do with this sound issue. As far as the
impact of the messages on the FPS, it varies, but especially on
graphically "heavy" tracks like forza or corkscrew where the FPS is a
lot lower to begin with, the additional burden of those messages on my
old nvidia (128mb) card certainly causes a drop in FPS. Now that I've
begun running the game in full screen mode and lowered the graphics
quality, detail level and texture size considerably, the FPS has
improved slightly, but occasionally, there's a drop when text appears on
the screen during a race.

I can provide more info if needed.
