Nothing worked here. I went to the /src/tools/trackgen/easymesh.cpp file
and found line 2270 with those interior/exterior variables, and then
tried to comment out the line, first with # and then with /*  */ , saved
and ran "make", only to read another error that stopped the entire
process. Without any coding skills, I can't know what went wrong there.
(Clarification: on the first failed attempt, I used # on that line; on
the second, /* */)

I then undid those changes and tried manipulating the "Terrain
Generation" section in the track.xml, using all sorts of negative values
for "border height" and "maximum altitude" and "minimum altitude" and
kept re-creating the track with the terrain, but it always appeared on
the right side (outside) of the track, and in F7 view, you could see the
terrain being ridiculously thick, as a result of those negative values
like -10000000000. Many times trackgen also crashed, unsatisfied with
the values I tried in that section. So no progress on this front, and I
haven't had a chance to try any 3D model manipulation yet.
