How does this work with TORCS 1.3.6 (works on CentOS)
(Note './configure --prefix=/home/USER/local')

./configure --prefix=/home/USER/local CFLAGS="-march=native -O3" CPPFLAGS="-march=native -O3" LDFLAGS="-Wl,--no-add-needed,--strip-all"
make
make install
make datainstall

Old versions may need (libm) CFLAGS="-march=native -O3 -lm"
