Dear Diameter experts, I would appreciate your help in the following problem: For certain functionality, where sesssion state is maintained in a Diameter proxy agent, it may be desirable that a Diameter proxy agent processes all Diameter request-answer exchanges of a given Diameter user session. Are there any means to enforce that the agent remains in the path during the entire Diameter user session? For instance, I could imagine that a Diameter client uses request Routeing for the first request, only providing restination realm and application, and includes the destination host directly in later requests, which could mean that a relay agent before the proxy agent chooses another path, bypassing the proxy agent. Or the client could open up a direct Diameter connection to the Destination host. Also, requests from server to client could take another route than requests from client to server. I am not aware that Diameter features a mechanism similar to the SIP record-route, that allow a SIP proxy to request remaining in the path for the entire SIP dialogue. Therefore I suspect the answer in an appropriate configuration of the network, but I am not shure which screws to turn.
