Hello
Beyond the technical implementation details on the compression itself, I
have difficulties in understanding the requirement for Diameter
Compression:
Diameter is typically used in newtork environments with no throughput
issues on the transmission lines (i.e. it is not to be used on narrow
radio links with scarce throughput).
The issue for Diameter peers is more efficiency (in terms of speed of
deploying services/features and in terms of CPU usage) so why would we
spend effort in defining/deploying a compression algorithm? It will be
faster and cheaper to send Diameter messages uncompressed.
Let's wait for an actual requirement from 3gpp2, 3gpp, Wimax forum,... to
work on Diameter compression and until then let's work on other topics...
Best regards
Laurent Thiebaut
