Hi:

With regard the Diamter SIP application -09, I got questions related to
the apparent big number of changes in this last version. I will try to
describe the need for them.

First the draft (version -08) was sent to the RFC Editor as part of the
early-copy-edit experiment. The RFC Editor did quite a few editorial
changes itself in the draft.

The RFC Editor also included three or four comments that resulted in
quite a substantial number of editorial changes. These were the comments:

- The mixture for future and past tenses in the text is misleading and
typically unjustified. So I went through the text and I avoided to use
the future tense unless it was strictly necessary.

- Suggestion to add an introduction to each of the commands

"The Message Formats included in this document are defined as per ..."

Instead I added a general statement at the end of Section 7 reading:

Sections defining commands contain the Message Format for that
particular command. The Message Formats included in this document
are defined as per Section 3.2 of RFC 3588 [RFC3588].

and then I added one sentence per command, right before the message format:

The Message Format of the UAR command is as follows:

This created also a number of changes because we have defined a few
commands.

- The RFC Editor also suggested to avoid mentioning "ABNF" when
referring to the syntax of Grouped AVPs, because if we mention ABNF,
they will check that the ABNF syntax is correct according to the online
tools. Since the Grouped AVPs ABNF expands on RFC 3588 and not on the
base ABNF, this check will not pass (I tried myself). So I went over
each of the grouped AVPS and wrote a reference to RFC3588 according to
what the RFC Editor suggested.

The SIP-Accounting-Information AVP is defined as follows (per the
    grouped-avp-def of RFC 3588 [RFC3588]):

Last, but not least, I fixed a couple of mistakes (see my initial e-mail
below), use consistently "deregistration" rather than "de-registration",
and pass the spell checker once more. This step also generated quite a
few changes.

Best regards,

         Miguel
