This is a bit off the subject but the message spurred the thought... For SMTP with TLS, does it make sense to have each peer hash the contents of what it sends and receives before a secure connection is established then the peers compare those hashes after establishment? (Similar to TLS.) I am tempted to conclude the value is marginal. Specifically, it may detect key word tampering but not removal of the TLS keyword itself. -dpg
